Hi, I’m Hayley, founder of My Identity.
What started as a way to help my daughter feel safer - without giving up her sense of style - has grown into a trusted local business helping people across New Zealand and Australia.
We’re here for people who want medical identification that feels like them. We want you to WANT to wear your Medical ID, and we want to make it fun, functional and fashionable.
Gone are the days of clunky metal tags that scream 'there is something wrong'. Our jewellery is designed to be worn with confidence and comfort, without compromising safety.
In 2018, our daughter Payton was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at just seven years old.
Like many families, we were thrown into a world of finger pricks, insulin, and learning to live with a serious medical condition.
We were advised by our health professional team that a Medical ID was necessary to go back to school. We searched high and low for medical ID jewellery that was something Payton would be happy to wear.
Eventually, we sourced items from overseas - these were expensive and not quite right. That’s when My Identity was born - to help Kiwis like Payton feel proud to wear something that could one day save their life.
✅ No ongoing fees — ever.
✅ No middleman — we engrave your NHI number, giving emergency responders direct access to your health data through the national system.
✅ Fast shipping from our NZ base.
✅ Real support — you’ll always be dealing with a real person who cares.
We’re proud to support Diabetes NZ in the past by doing colabs and designing bracelets and the profit going back to them. We now have a new existing arrangement whereby we offer an exclusive discount to their members. It’s one small way we can help make medical ID jewellery more accessible to those living with diabetes.
We’re now looking to extend this support to more health organisations across Aotearoa. with the hope of offering similar benefits to their communities.
If you're part of a health organisation and would like to collaborate, we’d love to hear from you.
To say her diagnosis was a shock is an understatement. Payton was in severe diabetic ketoacidosis when diagnosed, and spent days in hospital as we came to grips with our new normal.
But what followed wasn’t just recovery - it was resilience.
She’s grown into a strong, determined young woman who continues to inspire us and everyone who wears our jewellery.
Life changed, but it didn’t define her. And that’s true for so many others.
This is a recent family picture of us on holiday. From our family to yours, stay well!
